The release of Ambush in February 2022 ended a journey that started way back in 2014 and the production endured problems and obstacles like the Fan Film Guidelines, COVID, a lack of time due to work commitments, changes in personal lives, the fact it was a volunteer effort and other events.

Ambush asked for £1000 on Kickstarter and received a total of £4,649 in 2014 and it seemed things were going well until 2016 before updates were spaced out in some cases over a year and after 2019 there was nothing on Kickstarter until 2021.

Some will no doubt wonder why Ambush got no mass scrutiny compared to Axanar, it is simply that Ambush didn’t have a studio or selling merchandise or having fights with directors and doing YouTube shows and having one point something million do down the drain all of that.

It seems that many fan films do film in a timely manner, it is the aftermath (post production) that trips them up and causes delays, Ambush could have slipped below the waves and hardly anybody would of noticed but they got the job done in the end.

So what did everyone get in the end? A twenty minute fan film that looks pretty solid.

The Romulans are the antagonists, there’s Shuttlecraft action, the USS Ambush, Phaser fights, Physical fights and Plot twists.

There fight scenes are pretty intense, sure they aren’t Hollywood stunts but it will get your attention and that’s the main thing at the end of the day.

Ambush will make you wonder what comes next as it is pretty open ended but we shall see what the future brings even if the guidelines don’t allow sequels and series (ViacomCBS doesn’t seem to care though).
