‘Shadows’ was released on October 15, 2025, and was produced by the Starship Webster Creative Group.

The USS Webster arrives at 27 Hydra C IV, a planet that was destroyed by war and a landing party is sent down.

The landing party find shadows of those who had once existed, like the shadows of those who died at Hiroshima,

Then there was a discovery, it was hailed as ‘hope from despair’ and ‘life from lifelessness’, it was the beginnings of a tree, 27 Hydra C IV was on its way back.

The Chapman was assigned the task of seeding the planet with what was discovered and the hope is a few thousand years from now; the planet will bear life again.

For a short story, I liked it, the idea that a place can be all but completely destroyed yet have the beginnings of a rebirth is appealing to me, it reminds me a lot about life, a garden can be ravaged by a hailstorm or drought conditions and then you see a seedling poke up from the soil, it can raise spirits.
