Duty Calls tells the tale of Ensign Laura Reed (played by Emma Thorne) who has been assigned to the USS Indianapolis and this fan film tells her story.

To get to the Indianapolis, Ensign Reed boards the Beowulf from Alpha Centauri and then there’s a change of plans that forces an arrival change and then comes the big arrival of the Indianapolis who rushed to collect the ensign for reasons you’ll see for yourself.

Those who know Star Trek fan films may be surprised to find that Trekzone’s Matt Miller plays Ensign Stuart, the magic of technology allowed Matt to be part of the production considering the big distance between continents.

There’s plenty to like in this fan film, the USS Indianapolis, the old Uniform, a book, a story that doesn’t require phasers or torpedos, the great visuals and the good cast.

Samuel Cockings keeps these fan films nice and short so there’s no filler, every moment has a purpose like why Ensign Stuart plays a big part of the story.
