Matt Miller is known for Trekzone, a website that covers everything from Star Trek to NASA to what is going on at The Dish and more.
Matt’s interest in Star Trek also went into the realm of making a fan film as he written and directed “Once More With Feeling”, a fan film that is unique compared to the hundreds that exist.
The action takes place as the Dominion War has come to an end with the signing of the Treaty of Bajor and the USS Sydney is returning home but their trip home is delayed as a coded message is received.
The first assistant director of this fan film was none other than Aaron Vanderkley who is one of the best going around.
Now what is so interesting about this fan film? Well, there is great VFX from Maria Pena and Samuel Cockings, but you won’t see a cast in Starfleet uniforms or any uniforms as it is filmed like it is a rehearsal.
It’s like watching a production that has finished its slate of VFX shots and the cast is going through a final rehearsal before getting it down on film except this is on film and they are serious.
That’s what make this fan film unique, and it works out well though we may never see it done this way again unless covid makes people use this filming technique again in order to get a story made.
