When the Guidelines came into force, most fan film fans were upset because productions like Farragut, Continues, New Voyages and the still in production Axanar would not get to make their full length, expensive and stacked with professionals productions.
But there was a silver lining to the guidelines and that was that anybody young or old could dress up, grab some props, turn on their camera and give making Star Trek a go.
The O’Halloran brothers (along with Chicken Nugge) star in this all O’Halloran production that was made in the spirit of current day fan productions.
This production has it all, there’s a time travelling NASA astronaut, there’s classic Star Trek fighting, there’s a baby Yoda, there’s some very strange yet interesting sunglasses and more.
There’s even an Axanar joke towards the end which will amuse those who do not like a certain guy.
The only downside is that wind played havoc with the dialogue but that has been a problem of fan productions since the time they started when using a standard mobile phone or video camera.
Overall, it is good to see kids playing Star Trek just like so many of us have done in the past and maybe it will inspire others to give it a go because with just a few props and some ideas, they can make their own Star Trek adventure.
